Before You Ride

Introduction & Essentials

Redemption Ridge is a story-driven county set in 1899. Your journey is yours to shape, but good roleplay begins with preparation, respect, and a believable character.

Before You Begin

  • Have a working microphone and enable in-game voice chat.
  • Understand the basics of roleplay and prepare a character background.
  • Read the County Rules and Gang Rules.
  • Know these terms: RDM, VDM, NLR, metagaming, Fail RP, and Fear RP.

What You'll Need

  • Steam and Rockstar accounts.
  • A legitimate PC copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 (the Online edition also works).
  • The RedM client installed on your PC.

Install & Launch RedM

Launch RedM and authorize Discord if prompted. Make sure Steam and Rockstar are available as required by your setup.

Find Redemption Ridge RP

Search for Redemption Ridge RP in the RedM server browser, or press F8 and enter:

Creating Your Character

When you first arrive in Redemption Ridge, you'll see five empty character slots. Select Create a New Character to begin.

Select male or female and press Space to confirm.

Customize your character's features, clothing, and outfit.

Choose a Name & Background

Give your character a name and a story. Leave room for their journey to grow through roleplay.

Welcome to Blackwater

Your First Steps

After creating your character, you'll arrive at the Blackwater Court House. You're starting a new life, and the first challenge is learning how to support yourself.

Equipment & Cash

  • 1 × Knife
  • $300 in cash

Explore town, get to know the locals, and look for honest work. You'll soon need additional food, water, tools, and supplies.

Earn Your Keep

Making Your First Money

Delivery and construction jobs are good ways to begin earning money. Job opportunities are available in major towns, and you can find them using your map.

Construction Work in Blackwater

Find the construction job marker, approach the foreman, and use the on-screen prompt to begin. Help repair and build the new Blackwater Bank while earning your first wages.

Frontier advice: Look for employment locations on your map when you enter town. More work and opportunities open up as you get acquainted with the county.

Life on the Frontier

Stores & Supplies

You'll find stores across the county to help with daily needs. Keep an eye on your character's health and wellbeing as you travel.

Where to Shop

General stores sell basic food and water. Saloons and player-owned businesses may offer better-quality meals and other useful goods.

Carry cash for purchases: businesses require cash payment.

Keep Your Earnings Safe

Banks & Safeboxes

Carrying too much cash can make you a tempting target for robbers. Visit a bank teller to keep your earnings secure.

  • Talk to the bank teller to view your account at that bank.
  • Deposit or withdraw money.
  • Store or retrieve items using your safebox.
  • Money deposited at one bank must be withdrawn from that same bank.
  • You can hold money in more than one bank across the county.

Official County Records

Identification

Some jobs require official identification. Here's how to get your county ID card.

Visit the Photo Shop

Use the G prompt to take a photo. Adjust your character's position and capture a screenshot when you're ready.

Post Your Photograph

Upload the screenshot to your Discord newspaper channel #📷ᴄᴏᴜɴᴛʏ-id-photos, then copy the link to your uploaded image.

Print Your Photograph

Select Print Photo, paste the Discord image link, and print your photo.

Collect Your ID

Speak to the NPC outside the photo shop to obtain your ID card. Enter the required details, then double-click the ID card in your inventory to use it.
